Eat, Pray, and Love

Have you ever been in a situation where you have wished, prayed, and yearned for something?

Yet, constantly you encounter roadblocks and you don't receive any answers?

The other night I was watching the movie Eat Pray Love with my wife Asia. 

It is a movie about a woman who ultimately is searching for peace within

her life. She has a rough time doing so. She tries finding peace through other people,

which only makes her life worse because she ends up trying to make the other

person happy at her expense. So she prays to God.

There was a story, or a joke rather, that was in the movie. I would like to share

it with you all: 

I remember an old catholic joke about a man who spent his whole life 

going to a church every day and prayed to the statue of a great saint 

begging "please, please, please, let me win the lottery." Finally the 

exasperated statue comes to life and looks down at the begging man 

and says "my son, please, please, please, buy a ticket." - Eat Pray Love

Both Asia and I found this to be a little humorous. So many times in our lives

we are constantly in search of something, or we want something and constantly pray for it.

While prayer to God is definitely the first thing to do, it is important to realize that

God will not just hand something to us. 

We have to take action.

We have to work toward it.

We have to try.

Whether our prayer is answered is in God's hand after that point.

But the important take away is that we can't just sit there.

We have to do.
