Smart or work hard?

Often I hear from friends and family, “Oh, Ramin, he

is so smart. Always been a smart guy...bringing

home A’s since a young age and knows a lot of things.”

You want to know something though?

Here is the truth.

I am not smart.

At least, I don’t see myself as smart in the natural sense

of being born smart.

The truth is I work hard.

I put in the hours that is necessary to get the task done.

Whether it is at school, at work, or my personal life, I

work hard to complete the tasks in front of me or to solve

the problems that come my way.

Should I be ashamed to say I am not smart?

No, of course not. My hard work has given the results that

others deem as being “smart.”

In life, you may not have all the smarts in the world, but what

can make the difference is the determination to get what you want,

and working hard for it.

There are no short-cuts to it.
