#0981 Answer to defining success

Answer to defining success
======================
A question that I have struggled with for some time is how
to define being successful. This question was presented to me
by my friend while I was attending the University of Virginia in 2005.

At that point, I thought it was a silly question. Being successful
meant measuring it by financial measure. In other words, how
much money a person had.

Then I grew up.

The answer really started to bother me.

I was struggling with that notion: To measure success, you would
need to measure the worth of a person’s bank account. Could
that really be it?

Coupled with my faith in Islam, I realized that I was struggling with
it because that was not the right answer. As I continued to thrive
professionally, I realized that there was more to life than that.

So what happened?

Well, I struggled with it and now 10 years later, I feel like I’m
getting an answer to it.

Success is defined by how well you do something that you put
your mind and efforts toward.

That’s it.

It is how well you perfect that art of whatever you are doing.

For example, take Jiro Ono. He is the owner of Sukiyabashi Jiro, a three-Michelin-starred Japanese sushi restaurant in Ginza, Chūō, Tokyo. Getting a reservation for his little
restaurant requires a very long wait. I watched a documentary on him “Jiro Dreams
of Sushi” and I began to realize why he was so successful.

It was in his art.

He is really good at combining flavors and orchestrating a meal so that it
is as fine-tuned as the best musical orchestra in the world.

Jiro sought perfection in his work.

Another example: Michael Jordan. Someone that just about everyone
in the world knows and recognizes his Jump Man label.

Why was he so successful?

It was his tenacity to be the best in basketball.

Jordan put his mind and heart and soul into his practice.

That’s why he became a success.

Success isn’t defined purely by money. Money can be a factor, but
that’s not how you define success.

Success is defined by how well you do something that you put
your mind and efforts toward.

That’s it.

#0980 Hot Frog

---------------------------------------------------------------
Inner Peace Be Upon You

# 0980 Peace and Blessings Every Day
------------------------------------------------------------
Hot Frog
======================
Put a frog into a vessel fill with water and start heating the water.
As the temperature of the water begins to rise, the frog adjust its body temperature accordingly.
The frog keeps adjusting its body temperature with the increasing temperature of the water. Just when the water is about to reach boiling point, the frog cannot adjust anymore. At this point the frog decides to jump out.
The frog tries to jump but it is unable to do so because it has lost all its strength in adjusting with the rising water temperature.
Very soon the frog dies.
What killed the frog?
Think about it!
I know many of us will say the boiling water. But the truth about what killed the frog was its own inability to decide when to jump out.
We all need to adjust with people & situations, but we need to be sure when we need to adjust & when we need to move on. There are times when we need to face the situation and take appropriate actions.
If we allow people to exploit us
physically, emotionally, financially, spiritually or mentally they will continue to do so.
Let us decide when to jump!
Let's jump while we still have the strength.
Good morning and have a great day beloved!

#0979 Meaning to one person

---------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------
Meaning to one person
======================
The other night Asia was reading something on her phone right before bed. I could
tell she was deeply ingrained into it, so I told her to be careful about
reading anything that may upset her right before bed.

She told me she was reading an e-mail from a girl who read her
Words by Asia  on instagram, and told me to read the e-mail. As I was reading
the e-mail, I could not but feel for the girl.

She had a 3 month old baby, and her husband died a month ago
from a motorcycle accident. She told Asia that she was struggling
to get by, but that in reading Asia’s Words by Asia  on instagram,
it was truly helping her.

Reading that just made me stop and think about how too often we think
that our actions don’t matter. How we aren’t making a difference, or
we aren’t doing anything that others can benefit from.

There have been plenty of times where I have discredited something I was doing because
I couldn’t see how someone else was directly  benefiting from it.

Then I thought back to starting Inner Peace Be Upon You. Our first
newsletter was about gifts God has given us and how we can use them for
the benefit of others. Even if we don’t see it, we have talents that we are
meant to use.

There will be a lot of times where we can’t see the immediate results of the
good that we do or the good we put out in the universe, but it doesn’t
mean that it is going unnoticed.

If Asia did not write her Words by Asia then this would be one less thing
to help this girl grieve.

Next time you discredit what you are doing, just stop yourself and realize
you are not seeing it, but your actions are having an impact on someone else.

Keep away
======================

Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions.

Small people always do that but the really great make you feel that you too can become great.

Open doors
======================
Sometimes we fail to see the doors that opened around us
because we are staring so long at the closed
door that has been shut.
