# 0187 Peace and Blessings Every Day
------------------------------------------------------------
People-Pleaser.
======================

I was reflecting the other day on how my interactions
with people have changed.

It bothered me. I looked at how I was before, and I realized
I am not as outspoken as I used to be.

It really started to bother me.

Before I would say things to people to put them on edge. Some
times even see how awkward I could make the situation
by saying something that would make the person feel uneased. I
would tell myself, “This is how I am. If you like it, great. If you
don’t, then you can deal with it!”

I realized now I have become too much of a “people-pleaser.”
I actually watch what I say.

“Watch what I say...that is an interesting notion, isn’t it?” I said
to myself as I continued reflecting.

Right then I had an Inner Peace and Blessings moment.

I realized it wasn’t that I was people-pleasing by watching
what I said or finding areas to agree in disagreements or
differences. It also wasn’t that I was starting to be hypocritical.
I value the beliefs that I have and value my opinion.

I have just learned in certain situations you need to be
more aware of your audience and work on progressing the
harmony around you by not saying something that will hurt
or offend someone.

By working the harmony around us, we are also in turn able
to work on the harmony inside of us.

I realized it was more that I didn’t want to offend someone or
hurt their feelings by disrespecting them and having
that be on my conscience.

Too often we let our egos get the best of us and feel like we
have to be better than others. We feel the need
to belittle others or talk badly about others. We feel if we
argue our opinions at the cost of others, we have justified
our freedom to exercise our minds.

A passage in Qur’an reflects today’s Inner Peace Be Upon You
very well:

“O ye who believe! Let not some men among you laugh at others:
It may be that the (latter) are better than the (former): Nor let some
women laugh at others: It may be that the (latter are better than
the (former): Nor defame nor be sarcastic to each other, nor call
each other by (offensive) nicknames: Ill-seeming is a name connoting
wickedness, (to be used of one) after he has believed: And those
who do not desist are (indeed) doing wrong.”

Quran: Al Hujarat (The Private Apartments) 49:11
