Live by what is important

It is common for us to hear or know of people
who worked so hard in their career. These people
made it to the top of their field. I’m talking money,
prestige, houses, cars, glory...it all.
Yet ironically, when looking back, these very same people
saw that it wasn't worth it.
They realized the negative impact it had on their family, friends,
health, spiritual life, etc.
We hear these stories, yet people ignore them and go on the same path.
It happens little by little. You don't see it.
But to the person who sits down and tries to figure out what's important in life
and strives to remind themselves accordingly and live by that - they can
"see" that path happening little by little and adjust to it accordingly and not
get sucked into it.
After all, who among us will say on our deathbed:
"I wish I spent more time at the office" or "I wish I bought more stuff".
