Quit apologizing
======================
We recently moved to another house and we’ve had to enroll our son, Zayan,
to another school. The previous school that he was in was just
Wonderful and such a great fit, but it would be too far from our new house.

Zayan’s transition was a little rough. New house, relatively new baby in the
house as well, and now a new school. We knew it’d take some time to transition
to his new school, teacher, and friends.

After nearly two months, we just noticed he was not enjoying it as much. We spoke
to his teacher to see what could be the issue. Finally, we decided we needed to
transition him to another class.  You may be asking, “Wasn’t there already a lot
of changes?” Yes, there were but we’ve also come to realize what works with
our 3 year old, and his teacher just wasn’t the right fit for him at this age.

After Asia spoke to the director and we made the change, we both started feeling
bad. We didn’t want the teacher to think we didn’t like her--it’s just it wasn’t the right
fit and we had to try something else after we gave it two months.  But still, Asia
and I being who we were, just continued to feel bad.

Then one morning right before the change, I had a moment.  Sometimes in life
you just have to quit apologizing and do what needs to be done.

This was one of those cases. As parents we have to do what is right for our children.
The teacher may have taken it personally, but that wasn’t the the purpose. We did
what we thought was right after all.

We could be wrong, or we could be right.  The main thing was you don’t always
have to apologize or feel bad about your life decisions.  You just have to make a decision
and run with it.
